About NILA
At NILA, we understand the power of light. Light is not only a way to dispel the dark, but also an important element that can transform a space, create atmosphere and bring it to life.
NILA stands for New Innovations in Lighting Architecture and was born from a deep-seated passion for light and aesthetics. We design and manufacture high-quality lighting that fuses art, craft and technology. Each object is made in our own studio, hand formed from natural alabaster-a material known for its warm, diffused light.
Our philosophy
At NILA, everything is about balance: between light and shadow, between form and function, between technology and emotion. We believe that lighting should not only illuminate a space, but be part of it. Our designs respond to the rhythm of the day and retain their beauty even when the lights are off.
NILA works closely with architects, designers and retailers to provide custom lighting solutions to fit specific visions and needs. Our collection includes a variety of designs, from pendant lights to wall fixtures, each with its own story and character. About Frans Peelen
Passion for lighting
and design
Born in Nijmegen and now 36 years young, Frans Peelen entered the fascinating world of lighting in 2010. He started his career in retail, but soon shifted direction to Philips Lighting (now Signify). In his 11-year tenure with this market leader, Frans has held various roles in both indoor and outdoor lighting. Prestigious projects for clients such as Heineken and the Johan Cruijf Arena are just a few highlights from his impressive career.
But what made his time at Signify truly valuable was the extensive network he built among installers, consultants, interior designers and architects. His passion for lighting was enhanced by impressive projects and luxury interiors. As Frans himself says, “Light is perception and with light you can give value to a space.”
What drives him? Lighting as an experience. Thanks to a strong network among installers, consultants, architects and designers and a love of luxury interiors, his vision grew: lighting should not follow, but lead. With NILA, that vision gets a clear stage-technically thought through, aesthetically pronounced.
Craft and quality
We are one of the few lighting manufacturers in Northern Europe that does everything entirely in-house. From selecting the raw alabaster to programming our own LED drivers, every detail has been thought through, tested and perfected.
